Jonathan Steele has been making pottery since 2009 and has honed the nuances of teaware craft since 2016. Jonathan holds an MFA from Oregon College or Art and Craft and has completed residencies at Pleasant Hill Pottery in Oregon and Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shigaraki, Japan. His home and studio are currently in Seattle, WA.
This work is from the “Winter 2025 Cloud Kiln Collection” that was handmade in Seattle, WA in January 2025 and woodfired in “Cloud Kiln” near Granite Falls, WA in February 2025. This kiln overlooks the South Fork Stillaguamish River Valley and was fired in this season to cone 12 with a reduction cooling technique that brings metallic iron out of the clay for this depth of surface and color effect.
