Ikigai (Life Purpose)
Ikigai is term in Japanese that gets behind the meaning of life. It is used to describe that which gives a person their purpose or reason to live. For many a tea drinker, their tea ritual and the tea they choose can be just that, bringing clarity and focus to the broader understanding of what it means to live on this planet.
It is with this intention in mind that we offer this life affirming blend of full bodied Taiwanese jin xuan oolong and Chinese jasmine, bound together by fragrant osmanthus and rose. Sarsaparilla and licorice add sweetness and body, which helps to connect the dots between each ingredient and give the tea a stronger point of view. It is a blend that knows where its heading.
With notes of amber, gardenia and cassia, each sip transports the mind to far flung locales of intoxicating parfumeries, exotic florists and heady spice markets, opening the mind, sharpening the senses and allowing the true intention of life to be revealed.
Ingredients: Jasmine, jin xuan oolong, osmanthus, sarsaparilla, licorice and rose petals.
Brewing instructions -
- Gong Fu - This tea works great in both porcelain and semi porous vessels. Since it is a mix of ball rolled and small twisted leaf, we recommend filling less than a third of the vessel with dry leaf. Works wonderfully in grandpa style too.
- Western - Use 1 heaping teaspoon per 8 oz of water. Add 195F water and steep for 3-5 minutes.
