Hibiscus by Kali
Although much maligned by pre-digital age western media and entertainment through tales of murderous cults, like the thuggees during the British Raj, or in movies like Temple of Doom, Kali in real life is worshiped as the Divine Mother, the giver and taker of all life, which paints a more complex representation of power and transformation than the binary world of these older paradigms.
Worship comes in many forms and with any proper show of devotion comes an offering. Whether metaphorical or literal this is meant to convey the reverence for the deity at hand. Hibiscus has been used as such an oblation in relation to the goddess Kali and is seen as a representation of Her consciousness.
Along with hibiscus, we added lemongrass, cinnamon and ginger, to build balance and complexity, allowing one to enjoy this tea at face value, or dive into the more nuanced depths that this blend has to offer.
