Yenoshima Sandalwood Lanterns

Lanterns have held an important place in Japanese society and culture, not only as way to illuminate the dark but as representation of the spirit returning to the elements.  It is said in Japan that humankind arose from water and during the annual festival of Toro Nagashi, floating lanterns are used to represent a family's efforts to guide the spirits of their deceased ancestors back home.  

Based from a mold originating from the early Showa period this unique lantern incense has a clean and distinct sandalwood aroma throughout.  it is said to be inspired by the Enoshima Shrine, a symbol for faith, and in this case perhaps the faith that all spirits will find their way back to the source.
